Gottman therapy is a research based therapy that helps couples and individuals build stronger relationships. This is done by helping people manage conflicts within relationships rather than eliminate or avoid them.
Gottman therapy can be used for any couple regardless of age or length of relationship. It uses a series of techniques and exercises to help couples learn more about their partners, learn about themselves, manage conflicts, communicate effectively, learn to create intimacy, and broaden understanding of the relationship.
It is most frequently used for couples experiencing chronic conflict, struggles with communication, stagnant relationships or feelings of emotional distance as well as struggling with specific issues such as finances, parenting and sex.
